Manus Inc., an emerging leader in the field of sustainable natural product biomanufacturing, announced today that Dr. John C. Leffingwell, leading expert in the field of flavors and fragrances (F&F), has come onboard as a technical advisor to provide expertise and support the commercialization of our flagship flavor and fragrance products.

Leffingwell is founder and president of Leffingwell & Associates, consultants and advisors to the F&F industry and developer of the Flavor-Base software platform used by food and beverage companies the world over. Prior to founding L&A, Dr. Leffingwell was involved in commercializing F&F products at R.J. Reynolds, and was part of the founding management of Sunkist Soft Drinks, Inc. in 1978 where he was responsible for the development and commercialization of Sunkist Orange soda – which by 1981 had become the #1 orange soda in the USA and the 10th best-selling soft drink in the US. Leffingwell has contributed significantly to the depth and breadth of knowledge of F&F ingredients used in food production, and provides a trusted opinion and analysis of the industry.

“Dr. Leffingwell is one of the most knowledgeable people in the flavor and fragrance industry, and has a proven track record of developing and commercializing F&F products,” commented Dr. Ajikumar Parayil, Co-Founder and CTO of Manus. “His combination of deep academic knowledge, real industrial experience, and vast network is of great value to Manus as we continue to develop and improve our fermentation-based biomanufacturing platform for the sustainable production of complex and valuable natural product ingredients.”
