Facts: Manus in Augusta

Going local: Manus purchased the Augusta facility in 2018 and is ramping up production for a new era of biomanufacturing, including a groundbreaking citrus flavor ingredient called BioNootkatone, launched with Givaudan, a global leader in taste and wellbeing. Manus has also invented the core technology and helps NutraSweet, the natural zero calorie sweetener brand, scale up the process for bioconversion of stevia extract.

Scaling Up: With a current capacity of 1.3 million liters, the Augusta BioFacility is one of the largest precision fermentation facilities in the world and is on its way to a 2-million-liter capacity by 2026.

Creating new jobs: Expertise is needed to operate such a complex BioFacility. Manus hired over 30 former employees from the previous owner of the site, and there are now about 120 people working at the plant.
